Leila J. Noël joined the firm in 1986 and became a partner in 1993. She primarily represents plaintiffs in lender liability, complex business litigation, employment discrimination litigation and in banking and financial transactions. An integral part of the firm, Ms. Noël has co-tried most of the firm's largest cases. Together with Barry Cappello, Ms. Noël ensures that the firm's clients receive the best possible legal representation.
Ms. Noël has obtained jury verdicts in excess of $125 million on behalf of her clients. These include a $70.8 million verdict against General Electric Capital Corporation; a $23.1 million wrongful termination verdict against Johnson Controls, Inc.; and a $16.2 million child wrongful death verdict against an exclusive athletic club. Ms. Noël also has been co-lead counsel in class and mass action cases that have resulted in tens of millions of dollars in compensation to class members, including litigation lasting 8 1/2 years against Boeing for toxic air contamination.
Besides her trial work, Ms. Noël has successfully completed numerous settlements on behalf of the firm’s clients resulting in more than $75 million in loan discounts and cash payments. Ms. Noël obtained $2 million in settlements for medical product liability claims against an orthopedics company, and she litigated and negotiated a favorable $54.8 million buyout of a multi-complex real estate subdivision.
